Nankeen Night-Heron and friend

Nycticorax caledonicus

A ‘dud’ sky this morning, so it was not worth getting the 170-500 mm out (it needs lots of light). Nevertheless, out I went with the 70-300. Got a few wrens and little brown honey-eaters, and the Brahminy Kites were on the pole, but this one looked new (to me). It was.

Oh, and a dusky-moorhen flew by.
