Up early this morning, I marched down to the grassy area with high hopes. The sun was rising behind the clouds, and I thought it would soon top them. Not to happen — as the sun rose, the clouds rolled on to cover it. The little birds were active, but I was reduced to desperate measures: 1/640 sec, f7.1 at 1600 ISO with a 400 mm zoom. I was on the edge of grainy, blurry darkness, and that — for the most part — was what I got.
Then, there was the silver lining. A Silver Eye hopped on to a branch about 3.2 meters away (it was probably further away, but it was close and I could still focus on it).
