A cormorant or an egret? A bit of both? No.

I saw this big fellow at the park this morning, and snapped away. I said to myself — Cormorant. But now, after looking over my cormorant pics and my egret pics, I think I have a blended bird. I know I must be wrong,  but look…

[UPDATE] A friend let me know that it is an Australasian Darter (Anhinga novaehollandiae). It does look a bit like a mix of egret and cormorant.

The head and neck look like ‘egret’, but the colouring and body/wings look like ‘cormorant’. What do you think?
